Every Turn Counts I've provided a save from the very first turn of a Survival mode game. I was able to get 55 turns. Can you get further? To try it out here is the save: https://drive.google.com/file/d/18RWubDhiDutHC96M-BrOyyY7f5NWyf8P/view?usp=share_link Note #1: This is a multiplayer save (so we can try Survival mode) so it needs to go in your ..\Documents\My Games\GalCiv4\MPSaves\ directory. It also needs to be loaded as "Restore Session" on the Multiplayer screen. No...
Update 1.05 added Survival Mode to Multiplayer. In Survival mode, all the AIs are locked in permanent war with the human players and allied with each other. They also receive bonuses that increase over time. The AI will win, the question is, how long will you last? Or in a MP game, which human will last the longest? But you don't need other humans to play MP in GC4, so I setup a Survival mode game to play all by myself. My settings are all fairly typical, one large...
This has already been a bloody game. The map is fairly packed and my neighbors (the Torians and the Festron) spread quickly. Usually, I would try to convince one of them to join me in a war against the other. But I'm playing the Arceans and we have access to some great commander warships, and I'm not interested in sharing. Instead, I pick the weakest of the two (the Festron) and attack at full force, hoping the Torians stay out of it. I set my policies to wage war. Trade route...
Today I decided to play a game as the Xeloxi. They are a tough civilization to play - so much so that I almost put a warning on them (as well as a few other civilizations) stating that they weren't a good selection for first-time players. They certainly run a difficulty level harder than the Terran Alliance. I've always loved the Xeloxi's style and the concept of a crime-based civilization. Every Xeloxi citizen is a criminal, meaning that high crime is just a consequence of p...
After working in the shadows for so long it is great to finally be able to announce a game and hear that you are as excited as we are for Galactic Civilizations IV. We have an amazingly talented team here and I wanted to introduce them as you may be chatting with as we go through early access and release. == DESIGN & PRODUCTION == Brad Wardell - Creative Director There is no Galactic Civilizations without Brad. He is the Creative Director for the game, which...
Heir to the Scryve In Star Control: Origins you had a chance to save the galaxy and meet some very dangerous, troubled, strange (and overly friendly) aliens along the way. There may or may not have been some cannibalism involved. After the successful completion of Origins, the threat was stopped and the galaxy was at peace. What is there for a snarky ship commander to do? Expand the influence of Earth, of course. It's time to get out into the solar system and to start becoming a galact...
GalCiv3 has come a long way since release. It has added governments, mercenaries, citizens, thousands of free to download ships and factions to play as and more tools to manage your growing empire. I sat down to play some today with the 3.8 patch and decided to have some fun. One of the new features in 3.8 is the Galactic Ascension Status. So I wanted to play a game where I pursued an Ascension victory. I picked the Altarian's since they get a boost from Precursor Artifacts, I set my universe...

There are a lot of strategies you can employ in Ashes. Being the kind of guy I am I like to play games where I try to exploit them (and then claim I am doing my job by providing design feedback about our games). I’ve done bomber rushes, gone hard into radioactives to try to rush t3 dreadnoughts and skip the lower level ships entirely, I’ve avoided the economy entirely and tried to deathball directly at my opponent’s seed, I’ve engineer rushed to drop defenses ar...

In a prior Developer Blog ( https://forums.galciv3.com/461709/page/1/ ) I talked about all the cool stuff you can do in the Custom Race tool. We give you a bunch of images, traits, abilities and settings to create whatever race you want. But, if you really want to make something unique you can go so much further. In this post I’ll talk about how modding works in Galactic Civilizations III and show you how I used it to make a new faction for the game, the Ghosts of Abbado...
We are hard at work creating the next Galactic Civilizations III beta and we will have a lot of fun things for you to play with. But I wanted to talk about one of my favorites, Custom Races. First off there are 2 ways to create custom races. First you can add them as a mod (but more about that in a future post). For this post I wanted to talk about everything you can do in the in game tool to create a wide variety of unique, interesting and weird species to populate your universes.
